Gruta de Benagil

In Algarve, you can find some of the most beautiful rocks and caves in the world. The best known of the rock formations is the Benagil Cave (Gruta de Benagil).

It is possible to access the cave by swimming from Praia de Benagil. We do not recommend it, as the number of boats visiting the cave makes this situation very dangerous. We recommend that you rent a canoe, kayak or Stand Up Paddle at Benagil beach or one from POMAR, then go safely to the cave.

Beaches

The Algarve is home to some of the world’s most beautiful beaches 🙂 What makes the Algarve’s beaches so special is the enormous diversity on offer: small coves, huge beaches stretching for miles, or beaches with fabulous rock formations. For the more experienced, you can go to one of our favorite spots located praia de Bordeira or in Sagres (praia do tonel).

Surfing

The Algarve has beaches with excellent surfing conditions. POMAR is 15 minutes from Faro beach, which offers waves for beginners all year round. Now’s your chance to get started! For more experienced surfers, you can head to one of our favorite spots at Praia de Bordeira or Sagres (Praia do Tonel). Note to experienced surfers: we advise you to avoid the summer months, as there are few waves in the Algarve 😀

Stand Up Paddle

The Ria Formosa is a large lagoon protected by five islands and two peninsulas close to the coast. You can see its winding waterways from the sky when you arrive in Faro.
POMAR provides you with its inflatable paddle on request. 😎
Hurry and book it with Claire, who will give you the best addresses for “Paddler” !

Villages

Algarve is full of charming little towns and villages. These hidden gems are truly amazing, and have a ;stunning architectural beauty.
Easily accessible by bike from POMAR, you can discover: Olhao, Estoi, Pechao, Moncarapacho …
And just a few kilometers away by car, other fishing villages: Salema, Cacelas velha, Tavira, Ferragudo …
