As part of our Coliver Interview series, we sat down with Charles, a ghost writer and entrepreneur who joined POMAR for a month of focused work, good energy and community life. In this short conversation, he shares what brought him to the Algarve and what he experienced during his stay at POMAR Coliving
Who is Charles?
When asked to describe himself in three words, Charles answers immediately: entrepreneur, music and life.
His work as a ghost writer requires listening, observation and understanding how people think and express themselves. When we ask him what his main strength is, he answers:
“Empathy.”
Why he chose POMAR?
Charles was looking for a place where he could work with focus while being surrounded by people with a similar mindset. He wanted diversity in professions but alignment in energy and lifestyle.
“You always want to be surrounded with people that do not exactly do the same job, but have the same vibe.”
During his stay, he also met a well-known public figure from France who happened to be visiting Pomar. For him, it was a small but meaningful example of the unexpected encounters that can happen in a community like this.
“Last week we met a very famous person in France at Pomar. So it is really worth it.”
Work and daily life in the Algarve
Productivity was a central part of Charles’ stay. He had the largest room in the house, which quickly became his main workspace and a quiet corner for deep concentration.
“My room was the best productivity spot. I got the biggest one, so it is perfect.”
He also appreciated the coworking space, a calm and structured environment where everyone is focused on their own projects.
“The coworking is perfect too. I see people, they are really focused.”
Talking about winter in the Algarve, he remembers a simple moment that captures the atmosphere perfectly. One afternoon he was in the pool with a friend who pointed out how different the weather was in northern Europe at the same time.
“She told me: Charles, it is October, you know. Look at the weather in Paris or Helsinki.”
Community moments
Pomar’s family-style dinners are one of the most appreciated parts of community life. Charles enjoyed the lively atmosphere around the table and the mix of cultures and conversations. When asked whether writing for clients or attending a Pomar dinner is more challenging, he laughs:
“Writing for clients is easy compared to family dinner in Pomar.”
What Charles takes from his stay
Charles was fully committed to both focus and movement. He was extremely active within the community, joining all the runs, all the workouts and even the ice baths, which played a big role in his experience at Pomar.
At the same time, he was deeply dedicated to his work, spending long hours in deep concentration. This balance between high energy, physical challenge and intense focus was essential for him. It is exactly this combination being able to push yourself, stay active and still access deep concentration that makes the Pomar experience so unique.
