(Remote workers with pups, read this!)
Looking for a dog-friendly coliving space in the Algarve? At POMAR, nestled in the southern Portugal, we’re all about creating meaningful connections, peaceful work environments, and a deeply curated community of remote workers, creatives, and founders.
And yes while we’re super intentional with who and what we welcome, we’ve made room for one furry guest per month. That’s right: at POMAR Coliving, dogs are welcome under specific conditions.
✅ Our dog policy
To maintain a serene atmosphere for all colivers and ensure we’re inclusive of people with allergies or sensitivities, we’ve set clear rules:
- Only 1 dog allowed on-site at a time (maximum one per month).
- Approval required before arrival – we vet both the dog and the owner.
- Only small to medium-sized, calm dogs will be considered.
- Dogs must be clean, vaccinated, and well-trained (no excessive barking).
- Dogs cannot sleep on shared furniture (beds, sofas, communal hammocks, etc.).
- Owners must always supervise their dog and clean up after them.
🛑 Please note: We do not accept cats. While we love all animals, we’ve chosen not to allow cats but just dog
We review requests on a case-by-case basis, so please reach out before booking if you wish to come with your dog.
🐶 What dogs bring to the POMAR community
We’ve hosted hundreds of digital nomads and remote workers at POMAR over the years and when there’s a dog around, something shifts. People connect more easily, spend more time outdoors, and feel more at home.
Here’s what we’ve seen dogs bring to our workation-style coliving:
- Encourage gentler, more grounded rhythms.
- Help spark casual conversations.
- Offer comfort to those far from home.
- Bring a little fun and playfulness to our off-grid routines.
But as much as we adore dog energy, we also protect the balance of the community. That’s why our one-dog-at-a-time and strict vetting approach ensures everyone can enjoy the space fully humans and canines alike.
✍️ How to apply to bring your dog
When applying to stay at POMAR in the south of Portugal, mention your pup in the form. We’ll ask a few questions:
- Breed and size
- Age and training habits
- Previous experience living in communal environments
If approved, we’ll note the pet on your reservation and make sure no other dogs are booked during your stay.
Whether you’re coming for a focus retreat, a creative break, or simply to enjoy the mild Algarve winter while working remotely, know that POMAR is one of the rare coliving spaces in Portugal to occasionally welcome dogs in a way that respects the entire community.
